I have some experience in this, I think. The last lap I made the pitch
did not adhere near the edge. I had pitched this tool before and I
suspect there was debris left on the surface after I cleaned the old lap
off of it. A good wipe down with turp would have assured a good adhesion.
As it was it was usable.
