Re: [ATM] Congratulations to Ross Sackett

It was very good to meet you' all! Ross's scope is very fun to use and beautiful to see. A highly evolved machine with a sculptural grace. (My daughter refers to it as the "guitar scope" because of its beautiful guitar finish.) It was good to meet (again) Richard Ozer and Bob May (who said he "escaped from the hospital" to stop by - now that is dedication!) My son and his buddy Ryan were mighty impressed with a scope by Howard Royster (http://www.eyetothesky.com/) with an incredible computer interface that automatically aligns itself to the night sky - just park it and push the button and it figures it all out.

The gathering consisted of Ross Sackett, Gil McFarlane, and myself.
It's always a pleasure to meet people you've only gotten to know via
list posts or scope photographs, so I'm glad we did this...

Ross entered his single pole 18" ultra-light as a Merit Award
contestant, and ended up winning not only an RTMC Merit Award, but also
the Astronomer's Choice award for 2007. Congratulations to Ross. It's
really a fantastic scope, and that blue is really wicked (the photos
don't do it justice)!
