And like I was mentioning last night, my 20 inch lived in a mounting using 
this altitude bearing design for a year in 1996.  I based my design from 
sketches from much earlier periods in telescope making. 

Like I said, the extra vibration from the 3 pt altitude design eventually led 
me away from this design.  One thought I had back then that I never pursued 
was to investigate the impact of moving the single point on the altitude axis 
from the eyepiece side to the other side.
