Re: [ATM] Ghosts in the Coulter

Hi,

A most interesting sketch. The only time I have seen something like
it is when I was viewing Mars with my 10" F/6.8 and the plate glass
mirror (~1.25" thick) hadn't cooled off yet. I saw multiple Mars
images, but they were moving around rapidly.

Do these ghost images move over time? You have a closed tube, so
given my experience, tube currents could cause this, but the images
would probably move a bit over time.

As I recall from past messages, the primary is not glued in, and is
1.25" thick, and possibly Pyrex.

Is the secondary glued to its support?

You might try an off-axis mask or stopping down the scope to see if
the images only appear when one area of the primary/secondary is
receiving light.
