A 21 lb. tool is quite reasonable, and with 55 pitch you should get 
good contact quite easily.  I've used heavier and lighter.  Don't 
worry so much about the weight of the tool, but instead think of how 
you will use it.

I recommend grinding to at least 9 micron, preferably 5 micron.  It 
will save you lots of polishing work, and that scratch will probably 
go away.
