Very timely! There are some references about NaCl optics in a
book I just borrowed from the library. The book is surely one of
the classics, but I did not pay attention to the title or author
(just randomly grabbed it and found what I wanted immediately).
It is called something like Handbook of Optics. I'll have it with
me in coming days.
BTW... there is a section on optics materials, including non-glass
optics. NaCl was only one of many.
