Small amount of water in polishing wetting liquids is not a taboo
for NaCl. It actually assist polishing.
Instead of rubber gloves, it suffices to wear rubber fingers
on thumb and forefinger. face mask is not needed but do not
breath directly on plate.
Anhydrous solvents are good for final washing of polished windows.
Special polishing kits include a glass optical flat for inspection of
flatness of polished NaCl plates via interference rings.
Prepolishing procedure if needed is fine sand paper (600-800).
Storage in container with desicants  like silica gell.
