I guess I was looking at Mel's original question.  While many hobbies do 
grow in the retired ranks (e.g., gardening, woodworking, probably 
ATMing), I think the "future" of ATMing lies with the young people.  I 
could be wrong in that assumption, of course!

And I agree with your statistical approach.  But we don't have that 
data.  My idea was only to get an idea of whether younger people are 
taking up the hobby.  Not rigorously correct, but it will (I think) 
provide an indication of what's happening (with the available data).
