Re: [ATM] the future of amateur telescope making and amateur astronomy

I think scope building will turn to ever larger, lighter, and more
specialized scopes. Hopefully we wont have screwed up the air as to make
observing obsolete. I am optimistic. I think the number of makers may
shrink, but the number left will be even more elite. If not more people
coming in when their young (like me) there are bound to be more around
middle aged from "my" generation. I think the hobby will also turn or keep
going, in the direction of building the absolute best most pristine perfect
telescope you can for the spectacular views and personal pride.

The hobby will live on, and while the technology and tools may chance
some its roots will remain and excellent instruments will continued to be
turned out by "amateurs" like us.
