Re: [ATM] the future of amateur telescope making and amateurastronomy

Not to worry, Dan; the necessary computer power will be available as an
implant, installed at or shortly after birth, as a parent-selectable
"upgrade"... All prior human knowledge will be available as a direct
download, and ignorance will become a criminal offence, punishable by a
"re-booting procedure". Next, we all meet some punk named "Q" with a really
twisted sense of humor and...

Come to think of it, I like your vision of owning a retro Ferrari somewhat
better; my aesthetic pick would be an early 60's vintage GTO.

I forgot something in 7)

SBIG will have a 400mm square camera, with 10^ gawd-knows-how-many elements
that will require a separate computer. You will need a computer to control
the figure, one for the tracking, one for the camera, and one for
notes/observing program. Not to worry...... something better than anything
Cray ever produced will be available at the Stuffmart checkout on a key
ring!!! And THAT may be a reality!!!
