While there are many different shapes (the fat triangle is the
first one in the series of odd faces edges), the easiest is to
measure with a measuring tool of the accuracy needed.  The other
one is to mount the glass on a turntable and center it on the
turntable axis and measure the errors with a dial indicator or
other such tool.  I'll also note that a circle is the only edge
that will produce an accurate center so that is another method of
determining a circularity of something by using a center finder
tool and run it around finding all of the indicated centers.
You didn't mention what the method that the guy is using but some
methods will make a circular piece even tho you'd suspect that
they wouldn't.
