I for one find those images pretty awesome! But you seem puzzled by
the discrepancy of the edges - I'd rather be inclined to think that
it
is not the fault of the simulation but of the actual mirror edge! Why
not try the simulation with a thin but distinct turned down edge, and
see if things match better? Such an edge might be missed by
interferometry, for all I know. Or try another Foucault run with the
outer few mms masked off....
