Thanks Bob. Sounds like I may be better disengaging the worm
gear in the rotary table and hand feeding it. At least I will be
able to feel what is going on that way. I will just use the
normal suds/cutting fluid as I agree that the oil won't do any
harm. Changing to water would be a nuisance and would also cause
rust on the mill. I'm a bit nervous as I've never chamfered such
a big blank and also never done it by machine.

I'm intending to trepan it too while it is on the mill, for which
I have 5.5 inch diamond core bit at the ready.
