Re: [ATM] Bevelling
Let the cutter do the work and don't push it hard into the glass
and it will be done really fast. The preference is to go
tangential as noted but cross the edge will also work well if the
feed is light. For a typical bevel of about 1/8" or so of the
angled surface width, you will probably want to do 4 or 5 turns
of the glass.
Crank that mill up to as fast as it goes (make sure that you have
freshly lubricated all of the moving parts in the head so that
they have good lubrication and then let it fly.
If you're not sure about feed rates, take a spare piece of plate
glass and hand feed it into the cutter and see how much it takes
off at any particular pressure of the glass on the cutter and
listen to the sound that it makes.
Finally, keep the mill wet until you get all of the white stuff
off of it as that is the glass dust and when it gets dry, it will
float in the air and do it's damage to you.
You can use regular metalworking coolant if you desire as the big
thing here is cooling and the diamonds won't care about any oil
or other liquids in the mix.
