[ATM] Look for meniscus parameters of Meade LX200 7" Maksutov-Cassegrain?
Hello ATM community,
In order to understand my telescope better
I try to make a so called ray tracing analysis.
According to physical defraction and refraction laws
I developed an easy programm for ray tracing based on
a table calculation (e.g. EXCEL) with diagram and macros in visual
basis.
It works fine but it is difficult to use it without knowing the
parameter
of the telescope, especially for the thickness and radii of the meniscus
lens.
I will not open my telescope because of warranty and collimination
problems
but maybe one of you did it in the past or knows some values elsewhere.
Of course I try to get these information from Meade directly
but this was not possible and of course the meniscus thickness and radii
information
are not includedc in the instruction manual.
When I looked for information I found on the following link a discussion
of possible parameters but this was before this telescope was available
on the market:
http://astro.umsystem.edu/atm/ARCHIVES/FEB96/msg00180.html
So I found your ATM link and I hope anybody is able to help me.
Beside the meniscus information I also interested in shape and focal
length
of the primary mirror.
In the instruction manual you can find this is strongly aspheric f/2.5
and
oversized with 8,25" but the
clear aperture is only 178mm (7") and therefore I think the focal lengt
is 178mm * 2,5 = 445mm which meets the factor of six of the
secondary mirror (system focal length 2670mm/6 = 445mm).
The strongly aspheric shape could be conic (e.g. ellipsoid?) but
who knows that?
Thanks in advanced for information and
best regards
Peter (Berlin, Germany)
