Re: [ATM] Berry out of date?
I have built his 6 inch dob, and it works. However, I wouldn't do it the same way next time; it's heavier than it needs to be. Also, the tube box and mirror cell are a bit clunky. But, as I said, it does work. You could easily make the tube out of doorskin or 1/8 inch plywood on some sort of framework; or else you could downsize his 10 inch Dob. I don't care much for his mirror cells, however, because you can make a very serviceable one out of just 3 long machine screws, 3 wingnuts, 3 springs, and 3 washers.
That being said, Richard Berry';s book is the one that got me started on making amateur telescopes; and I thank him profusely for getting me hooked.
