Now that you have plenty of advice to leave the vanes alone, if
you still want to paint them, here's the way.
\Chemically etch the surface with an acid that will etch the SS.
Use some Floquil Engine Black paint (the solvent based version,
not the water based version) and do a thin coat sprayed on.  The
Floquil paint is the thinnest paint that I know of and is ultra
flat as well as the finest grind on the pigment that I know of.
It was developed by a model railroader to paint a model without
obscuring fine detail that the modeler put onto his model.  The
Engine Black is also almost as good a black as the best of the
best of the optical black paints used in the industry.
