Horns?  Go back to the old cone that shows the various shapes of
the curves and remember that cutting the cone perpendicular to
the axis of the cone makes a circle, the angles between
perpendicular to the axis and parallel to the axis produce all of
the ellipses, parallel to the axis produces the parabola and
anything that is between the parallel to the axis and parallel to
the side of the cone is hyperbola.
Considering that, how can you say that the hyperbola has a
shallower center than the parabola?
