RE: [ATM] RE: Silicone Failure

Hello all,
Acetic acid isn't extremely corrosive - otherwise you wouldn't use
it as vinegar in salad dressings.
The pure acid (glacial acetic acid) isn't very good for your lungs, use it
in well ventilated surroundings, with eye protection. Wash it away with lots
of water

McMaster-Carr sells Dow Corning 832 silicone for $8.75 a tube. This
stuff is alcohol-based, and is "noncorrosive". It is the adhesive of
choice for attaching very large (multi-ton) mirrors to metal lifting
pads (etc.) at the Steward Mirror Lab (for one example).
