It's cute - a Diffract LWT simulation (using a point source) says the wire
shadows have bright center lines (like "Poisson's bright spot" which was an
early major victory for the wave theory of light). The diffraction edge
effect also lights up the centered zone pin. John said he's seen this neat
stuff in actual LWT tests and it does indeed make the test easier and better.
