I used a 6-point cell on my 16" F/4, 1.625" thick (Pyrex). I have
seen no hints of support problems in star tests, so I believe it is
working quite well. Three teeter-totters are easy to make.
A 3" thick mirror should be no problem at all. You'll have much
bigger problems with thermal issues.
