[ATM] ATM: Kolossal optical bench-

To all:

Gordon Tulloch granted me a very special favor and put up my illustrated
article about the huge optical bench I made to make mirror work quicker and
easier; this was when I was intending to finish mirrors under contract for
Parks Optical.

I thought you guys might find, at least, the drawings worth your time to
look at.

I was tremendously surprised when someone asked me the other day: "What kind
of DRAFTING SOFTWARE did you use?" and I replied: "Brain, eye, pencil, pen,
paper." I don't do too many things very well; but the few I can do well I
usually do very well. For a lark, you guys might want to take a look at the
drawings.

I gave the mechanical parts to this optical bench (minus the concrete
blocks, of course) to Parks Optical; their head optician did not like the
idea of testing at center of curvature, and did not like the idea of
concrete blocks, with their habit of dropping sand out of their surfaces, in
an optical shop (I never gouged a mirror with a sand particle; there is a
secret to keeping your mirror from getting scratched during fine grinding,
and I learned it).

So the parts are gathering dust on a loft atop an office at Parks (after ten
years; I had a fine time driving west by myself, last time I ever went
anywhere). Take a look at the drawings. Not bad for a "One eyed fat man".

May all of you find wonderful success in your atm-ing projects-

dave Oh, yeah, I almost forgot:
