[ATM] re: Cutting 3/4" Plate glass

Hello folks,

I went down to the local glass and sash place today to try to find some
5/8s-3/4" plate glass scraps to make a couple of grinding tools, 6" and 8".

I ended up with a 37" square piece 3/4" thick.  For $21.16

Now, I was hoping that I could cut off a 10" piece, by just scoring both
sides with a glass cutter, put the line over the ball end of the glass
cutter, and snap it off, like I do with 1/4" float glass.

No luck, not even with tapping the score line with the ball end. If it
was smaller, I could cut it in the big 24" slab saw I have at work, but
not the 37" piece.

I would be very interested in how others have dealt with cutting plate
glass this thick.

And of course the question ia already there of;

"Just how big of a stable mirror could one fabricate out of this glass"

All comments greatly appreciated.
