[ATM] Telescope Meeting Vogelsberg, Germany
Hello,
See here my awards report of the German "Intenational Telscope Meeting
Vogelsberg" (ITV), were the most original creations that we saw were
celebrated (many more stayed unseen under plastic rain covers):

This year we had to deal with lots of rain at 4-8°C. In mid Europe one must
be a "waterproof" astronomer to survive and in this respect I am myself a
clear south European. Despite that some 400 attendees found the way to
Vogelsberg (last year at better weather conditions there were more than 800)
and showed their instruments. I was delighted by the dramatically increased
number of selfmade mirrors, it developed to a real trend sport.
While the text of the above link is in German, you can click though the links
in the text and
at the bottom of the page to see additional pictures of the scopes and and
impressions of the meeting.
In short notes:
- Stephan Hammel's 9 inch Bino Dobson with rotating upper parts. Fantastic
craftmanship
- Yves Klüver's 24" f/4,5. This was his debut in mirror making!!! I wanted to
stop him from this totally crazy idea - no chance
- Michael Suchodolski's 8" with an level as "tube" and wastebasket as upper
part
- Martin Mühlendick's refractor parallel arm mount
- Christian Wiesenfeld's 10" stringscope with carbon spider
I can translate more details on request, or if you like you can write
yourself directly in English into the Forum. Many people will understand and
answer.
