Then you can try various combinations and see what effects you get.  It 
won't answer the question about what deflection you will find acceptable, 
but it will allow you to try out the options you are contemplating, and 
select the best.  I think you will find, as others have said, that larger 
diameter and shorter overhang will increase stiffness dramatically.
