RE: Re: [ATM] RE: Magnalium
As a young child the probably the most famous P2V, the Truculent Turtle was
placed on display right across the street from my parents house in Norfolk
VA. It stayed there for 15 years (we didn't) before being moved farther
inside the Naval Base. It was a long time holder of the un-refueled distance
record, a flight from Perth Australia to Columbus Ohio. A friends father was
a crewman on a P2 and he showed me and his son the airplane sometime around
1958 or 1959. I still have a pair of earphones his dad gave me although in
terrible condition now. The first airplane I had ever been in. I'm sorry we
couldn't have taken her up.
