That was my thought... we referred to takeoff and the approach of unwanted
company as "two turning and two burning."  Dandy way to burn off excess
fuel, too...  The main landing gear had magnesium rims; a blown tire was
not enough to ignite, but made a heck of a show as the aircraft skidded
down the runway...

Faintly closer to topic: Plexiglas dome in overhead of flight deck big
enough for sextant and navigator's head.  Talk about your dark skies a
thousand miles from anything!
