Re: [ATM] Re: Astronimium Metal Mirror, Caustic (and SPQR)
YES!
The very most comprenehensive, lucid, and complete article is the classic
exposition by Irwin Schroeder in his article in either the second or third
volume by of the Albert Ingalls telescope making books as published by
"Scientific American", their original publisher. Willman Bell has re-issued
these books (I have a coy of all three volumes as a courtesy gift form
another list members) Schroeder's explanation is clear, lucid, and complete.
I believe it inspired a decade of atms to use it. I believe that Irwin's
publication of his so lucid explanation of it inspired a decade of amateurs
to embraced it;
notwhithstanding P---L J---N's denouncement of it as "worthless".
Does anyone llike their instrument, purchased by (I grow bold here) "Star
Instruments"?
WHAT A LAUGH! I TESTED ONE OF HIS BIG CASSEGRAINS, PUT TOGETHER - IT WAS A
LAUGH- A JOKE; ONE COULDN'T FIND THE FOCAL PLANE ANYWHERE OVER A REGION OF
FIVE INCHES!.
Dave
Go ahead, kick me in the teeth, friends of the great P---L! Do it! I love
it!

up." (P.J.)
