The problem with the Schmidt idea is that decent astro photo film may be 
on the way out.  2415 is already gone.  It's hard to bend ccd's to a 10 
inch radius.  Probably you need to do a field flattener too. and then 
find or make a cd camera that has a very compact head, and prefferably 
remote heat dump.  Adds quite a bit to the complexity.
