Sounds like a nice F/2ish sphere, I have one of these (uncoated) which
I've tested and found to be better than 1/15 wave @550nm, I too am
thinking of building a Schmidt camera around it....

ATM list,
I just tested a 6" X 1" aluminized optic of 10" focal length. The
substrate 
is water clear and of unknown material. It tested as the best sphere I
have 
ever seen!
What might our list experts think might be done with it? My last post
found 
a home for a scatter plate- perhaps someone may adopt this curiosity.
