I also found that finding a reasonable solution was not dependent
upon using the special short flints. Solutions are also possible
using Fluorcrowns. An f/10 example:

I thought one advantage of this particular combination was that
all the lenses have a plano surface. The down side (in US) is
that Ohara does not list S-BAM12 or S-TIM1 in the standard stock
list (but then Ohara US doesn't seem to know that Ohara makes
a "Barium Flint" glass anyway ;-)
