[ATM] Another strange sight - West Coast's turn...

At 11:45 this evening (Monday night) I was star gazing from my driveway in
Northern California with a pair of 7 x 50 binoculars. With my naked eye I
caught what looked like three "stars" moving together. At first I thought
"illusion" - After a few seconds I realized they *were* three points of
light moving in a steady trajectory together and I put the binoculars on
them. It was three points of light in an uneven triangle (brightness
equivalent of maybe a 3 or 4?) traveling from North to South. All three
points of light could be observed at one time in my binocular field of view.

They traveled for maybe 30 degrees which took about 15 seconds. When they
seemed to be almost directly over me, one at a time (over a period of about
four seconds) they each faded from view. No sparkle or anything just a
quick fade...

My three guesses are:

1) A piece of space junk that split into three pieces prior to re-entry and
I caught their last few seconds of life.

2) Three jets flying in formation at a high altitude and catching light
from somewhere then passing out of it.

3) Three satellites that are orbiting next to each other - although I
never heard of satellites traveling in packs before...

Anyway, all that talk of "something in the sky" over the East Coast earlier
this week on the ATM list I thought I would let you know that we're seeing
things here, too...

Best,

Mike
