Gil,
Try out Voyager 3. http://www.carinasoft.com/ I use this program just as you
describe on a 16" classical cassegraine on a German Equatorial mount. I do use
it on a macintosh however, but I think the company has began offering a PC
version of it. It's fun watching the crosshairs zoom around the monitor as I
manually move the telescope around. It's great for finding dim objects in the
middle of the city. Check and make sure that your encoders are compatible with
the ones they list.
