Interesting bit of a discussion. I have made several tubes, of the poly
sided design, (12 being my favorite number), out of pink insulating
styrofoam. It cuts easily on the table saw and I form it up using
polyester glue, (Gorilla glue), and masking tape for clamps. At bearing
and attachment points I glue on a piece of quarter inch ply. For small
scopes, up to 8" anyway, they are ok but I can only take the wall
thickness down to 1" and then they flex to much. Any idea on a resin that
could coat these and not eat the foam?
