[ATM] Mel's Trilateral scope... question

Greetings all,
It's been a long time y'all!
Quick explanation for the post...
Mel's flexible rocker box does NOT sit symmetrically
on the ground ring (it is offset towards the back of
the mirror). 
Quick question...
Why?
 
(I'm guessing it is either because of the balance (or
cg) of the OTA or a clearance issue?)
