I have a book on Optical Workshop Principles originally written in the
19th century, by a Col. Charles Deve. What I have is a 1943 English
translation. It has three pages devoted to metal mirror working and
recommends "putty powder" to polish with. If you would like I will copy
those pages and send them to you. Sounds like you have a neat project
going.
