As for grinding outdoors, my local ATM group made several mirrors entirely 
outdoors. I imagine John Dobson has made many mirrors entirely outdoors. If 
you really have sand blowing around, then by all means put something up as a 
wind break. Now if you just want to work indoors, that's another thing, and 
I'm sure the good folk on the list can help you out if you can tell us your 
parents' argument against it. But if you wind up outdoors, don't despair!
