One thing that makes a big difference is what the seeing conditions are.  If
you had a nice quiet night when you first tested the mirror, you will indeed
get a nice view of Saturn if the mirror is good.
It is now time to do the testing needed to find out where the problems are
in the telescope and fix them.  You could have just stressed either the
primary or secondary with improper mounting and that just needs to be fixed
to bring the scope up to snuff.
I'll also note that the old mirror can be refigured easily and you can gain
a second telescope that way.
