Maybe we should be discussing reasons for making glass, molding glass or
slumping glass.

Making glass can be a whole hobby unto itself.

Molding glass for reshaping of odd chunks of glass into usable optical
blanks, or making a large blank out of many smaller pieces.

Slumping glass, to reshape a thin blank into a useable shape, or reshaping
an already curved piece of glass.

There are probably hundreds of reasons.

As in any endeavor, education and safety are key issues.

Want to make glass??   Go for it!!
