Perhaps I'm wrong. I was basing this on the fact that after a self-cleaning
cycle, the oven is cool enough to touch after an hour or so. I would think
that if your kiln coasted down 800 degrees in an hour (about 1 degree every
4.5 seconds), then maintaining an annealing temperature accurate to a couple
of degrees would require some fairly rapid cycling. Never having watched an
annealing oven in use I wouldn't know if that's normal or not.
