RE: [ATM] Astonomy in Schools

I have the teachers on side, it's really only the admin that needs
swinging now.

I had a look at the Project AstroNova website quite informative, and yes
there is some stuff there, that even though I'm in Australia, I can use
to get this a couple of steps closer to fruition. I was really aiming at
the seniors at this school as they are in a position to start making the
carear choices dirrectly as opposesed to the junior years here where the
subjects are prescribed.

So my idea was, if they can see the science and actually do some REAL
science in this field then they might be more inclined to go to uni and
study this field. BUT unless they get a hands on taste for astronomy
then I don't see many new astronomers coming our way.....

Do a Google Search of "Project AstroNova"

It pairs an experienced astronomer with a teacher, usually a
science teacher and the two develop a variety of activities. You'll
produce results more to your liking working in an appreciative
environment than struggling to get support from disinterested
people.

If you want to make a difference, find an environment populated
by kindred spirits.
