Perhaps he was using it to clean optics as opposed to polishing or
figuring with it.  I have heard of this before.  But BEWARE.  Lemon
juice will remove coatings from lenses.  I know this from experience.

I was discussing my activity with mirror making recently with an
associate and had and interesting response from him. He said he had a
relative in the optics industry that produced a superior optical polish
by using lemon juice. I this for real?
