Re: ATM advice on turning pro?

I have never liked the concept of demoting one's passions into "hobbies."
If you are passionate about something, give it your all. Doors will open if
you're just persistent enough, and you let enough people know what you're
doing.

The people I admire for their accomplishments have mostly not had hobbies.
Rather, they have acted on long-term, focused passions which they have
pursued relentlessly. I can think of few things sadder than self-drawn
"Do-Not-Cross" lines.

This doesn't mean you have to mortgage the house or quit the job, but it
does mean than there's no reason you can't push the things that excite you
MUCH farther and MUCH harder than any mere hobbiest would. Sooner or later
you just might get somewhere interesting.
