Re: ATM Building a Dobsonian, 2 Questions
Let me put the black velvet vs. paint vs. anything else.
Person X used the black velvet and found that it seemed to make the sky
darker on his scope. He recommended it and since he used the stick on type,
that's the RULE.
Person Y used some black paint that he had around from his photography
department's supply that was starting to go out of date so they got rid of
it at work and he picked it up. Worked nicely so he's got the RULE that you
use ultra-flat black paint.
Person W (just to jumble up names like Wilson would like us to do) (BTW, was
Wilson Wilson's middle name happen to be Wilson by any chance?) made
baffles for his scope and gets very nice black looking skies with his
baffles painted with some black spray paint from the local hardware store.
Thus, that is his RULE that all scopes need to have baffles.
Now that we have 3 different people all with THE RULE on how to do light
reflection reduction, which one is the correct one??? They all can't be
correct, can they?
