Re: ATM About making a glass blank
Yes...
Anyone HAS made their own blank... BUT...
For the first time learner, it is a very time consuming and costly project with lots of pitfalls along the way. You are
much better off purchasing the glass (the best grade you can possibly afford) and cut corners elsewhere. The main
objective whether it's a lens or mirror is the KEY to the performance of the instrument and it's foolish economy to go
cheap on the main element. After all, you will lovingly spend hundreds of hours making it into a light gathering and
focusing tool and hopefully many years enjoying the fruits of those many hours of labor... why cheapen it and have
something less than desirable after all that time and effort?
