Re: ATM ? Motorized Chair for binoculars?

Thanks to all for your ideas.  I'm thinking that the Azimuth bearing would be a pretty lightweight pair of rings with some roller bearings and a Teflon or fuzzy furniture glider damper between them. I think 4 points of contact, at the corners of the chairlegs' footprint, would be a lot more stable than 3.  Otherwise, it would be a  "centerless" dob base - flexible rocker along the lines of Greg Babcock's 24" or Mel's new 20", partly for the practice of building one, and partly to save weight.  The intent is to make it light enough to "just throw it into the car", along with a scope or two..., for a night out or a star party.
