Re: ATM Coating Silver?
This French company doesn't do anymore silver coating, but I don't know
exactly why. I know they 've had problem with longevity....maybe that's the
reason...?
There is also an Italian company that make silvered mirror. The protection
is MgF2. The optician told me he doesn't know exactly how long it last, but
he thinks it last less than Aluminium coating.

Hi Michael,
>>>
I am about to finish polishing and after inquiring about aluminium
coating
here in Brisbane ($380 for 10"!!) I am looking at doing a silver coat
instead.
My question is, Can the protective coatings they use on aluminium be put
over the silver as I assume it is not an electrically driven process in
a vacuum chamber?
<<<
In France a company proposes also protected silver. Done in vacuum
as for standard Al, as far as I know.
I recently *heard* however that the longevity is quite shorter than std
aluminium.
And, in any case all their coatings are horribly expensive! On the other
hand,
even here in Europe $380 to coat a 10" seems much!
Frédéric, do you wish to comment further?
