Your strokes are too long.  Just slowly increase the length of the stroke
and you should walk into the parabola.  I'll also note that having the hands
one in front of the other tends to minimize the TDE.  Most people hold the
mirror like a steering wheel and that tends to increase the TDE.  If you put
your hands at the 12 and 6 position, the forces on the mirror are different
than at the regular 3 and 9 positions.
