Tom, the problem here is that pitch can correct for errors of a few
thousandths of an inch in time but when you get to hundreds of thousandths
of an inch, it doesn't get there.  Also, the stress of the plywood expanding
and contracting is going to be a result from the stuff moving faster than
the pitch can move.
Pitch will move but not on that timescale.
Let the mirror float and things will happen a lot easier.
Wood has a real problem with humidity and expansion and tying a piece of
optics to it so that it doesn't move is a poor thing to do.
