The tube to my dob is octehedral, made of 1/2" plywood, coated with sawdust inside. I painted a layer of oil-based primer and sprinkled sawdust on it. After it dried I sprayed a heavy coat of Krylon ultra flat black, let it dry, brushed it lightly to remove any loose sawdust, then painted again with the black. It seems to work very well for stray light (in my limited experience).
